My first experience of having a free seat upgrade from the lowest economy class (V) to business class, and I experienced it with the best airlines in the world, Singapore Airlines (SQ) 😊. It was a long story, and as I mentioned before it involved the power of rejoicing. The chronology: Our SQ403 flight on Sat, 8 Sep 2019, 09.55 pm, from Delhi to Singapore (SG) initially planned to use a certain type of Airbus A380-800 aircraft (I forgot the type). The original aircraft consisted of 2 decks, and some of economy class passengers were also allocated at the upper deck. However, on the day of the departure, the inbound flight from SG was using different type of aircraft due to some technical reasons. For the new aircraft, the upper deck was entitely dedicated to first and business class passengers. As the results, the economy class was overbooked. Knowing the situation, the SQ ground staffs at Delhi were trying to get some of the passengers that were queuing to check-in to switch to different flight. They started to offer several options: 1. Switch to Air India with similar timing and a compensation of S$250. 2. Switch to SQ flight 1 day later, provided 5-stars accommodation in Delhi, and another compensation of S$400. However, no one in our Dalai Lama teaching group from Singapore was willing to take the offer. There was this Indonesian couple (Ko Jay and Ci Veli, in picture 2) in our teaching group who was the first ones to check in. They were initially assigned different seats that were far apart, but when they asked the check-in counter to re-arrange their seats, they got upgraded to business class instead. When they first told me, I was really happy and I rejoiced for them. The old me (me before the teaching) would be thinking like “What they so damn lucky, sia. I wish it were me”. However, the whole teaching and India trip experiences with Kalyana-Mittas totally transformed my mind that sometimes filled with jealousy into mind that full with rejoicing of others’ merits. ... continue in comment section 😊

On August 30th, I finished my duty as Ambassador of El Salvador in India and today, September 6th, I'm going back to my homeland and to my family. I return with the satisfaction of have given my best effort to serve the country and the People. Being in India has been a privilege, for which I am very grateful to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of El Salvador, and also to my colleagues whom had supported myself since I arrived (as Amb. Hans Dannenberg, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in India, in the picture). I'm going back with a lot of love and affection for this great country which I'm certain I'll come back. See you soon, Bharat!
