Cross Country Trip Thursday Aug 1, 2019 Yosemite National Park Post 18 ——————————————————————————— If you go to post 17, this is the 13 mile drive. #travel #yosemite #travelacrossamerica
Cross Country Trip Thursday Aug 1, 2019 LAX➡️Bakersfield, CA➡️ Yosemite National Park Post 17 ——————————————————————————— Once we Arrived to LAX, we slept at the airport (the last time I would sleep on a bed in 2 wks), woke up, showered, ate and took a shuttle to where my car was in long term parking. I looked out the window and saw the row of tall palm trees and I felt a RUSH of excitement. Our trip finally felt real. When I lived in LA I was able to do a lot of exploring and my dad wasn't interested in staying in the city so as soon as we got my car, we started driving to Yosemite National Park. On our drive up, we stopped in Bakersfield, CA to buy food and camping supplies. This wasn't just a several week vacation, this was a camping trip. We were ready to ROUGH IT. My dad used to be a backpacker and he’s told me a ton of stories about his journey on the Appalachian Trail. He hiked through the mountains with everything he would need for weeks on his back. I really hope one day to be able to experience that for myself but I was glad to have him with me because I was planning on doing a lot of hiking. We loaded the car up with a tent, yoga mats, a machete and 2 weeks worth of canned food… Okay, fine. I’m kidding about the machete but I wish I would've bought one. Anyways, we drove all the way up into Yosemite and once we got there and we got into the National Park I realized I was low on gas so I bought gas from the only gas station within 20 miles. Guess how much I paid for this gas….. $4.60 FOR A GALLON OF GAS…. I was mindful to not make this mistake again. Also, another thing I did not take into consideration was that I hadn't made reservations to camp on one of the busiest weekends of the summer. Every campground we stopped at was full. The park ranger said that the only campground that might have an opening was a 13 mile drive down to Bridalveil Creek and there was no guarantee. There was no service so we couldn’t call to find out so we decided to test out luck and drove down the 13 miles. Thankfully, we were able to find a good campsite and get set up before 5pm. ——————————————————————————— These are pictures of our drive from LA to Yosemite
Cross Country Trip Wednesday July 31, 2019 CLE➡️DTW➡️LAX Post 16 ——————————————————————————— On Wednesday July 31, 2019, I woke up after the night at the Wiz Khalifa concert and I had no clothes, my car was at Jordan’s friend’s house, I didn’t wash my face and I had to drive back home from Cleveland, pack my bag for 2 and a half weeks to get on my flight in Detroit by 7pm... I woke up and realized I had a ton of tasks in front of me and I didn’t even know where my phone was. Thankfully Jordan put my phone on the charger for me the night before and got me an Uber to her friend’s house where my car was at. I drove home 2hrs, did my laundry and packed a duffel bag full of clothes and random items that I thought might help on our trip. The time felt like it flew by and before I knew It, It was time to leave for Detroit Airport. My sister insisted that we take a picture because she felt uneasy about us leaving for so long and most likely no phone signal while we were gone. So, we took this beautiful, flattering family pic above and then left for our flight. This was probably the first time that I had left to go to the airport and my mom didn’t cry. She had a really tough time saying goodbye to me while I was in the Army but this time she was ready to send me off because she knew I'd be back home soon. Shortly after parting ways with my mom, me and my dad went through airport security, got on our plane and set out on our journey beginning in Los Angeles…
Cross Country Trip Tuesday July 30, 2019 Blossom Music Center Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio Post 15 ——————————————————————————— Here are the rest of the pictures and videos from the wiz khalifa concert. I had so much fun💕
My room has been a work in progress but it’s coming together finally.
Cross Country Trip Tuesday July 30, 2019 Blossom Music Center Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio Post 14 ——————————————————————————— The first picture is from our drive to the music center and the second is shortly after we got inside of the concert. ❤️
Cross Country Trip Tuesday July 30, 2019 Blossom Music Center Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio Post 13 ——————————————————————————-After doing some reminiscing that morning, we went to Jordan’s house and I tried on pretty much her whole suitcase full of clothes since I didn’t anticipate staying in Cleveland for more than one day. Once we were ready, we met up with her friends and drove to the music center. After you park, everyone starts tailgating until it’s time to go into the concert. It was just one huge field party. What happens at Blossom stays at Blossom is how I’ll leave the tailgate but I had a ton of fun. I met some hilarious people and I don’t think I stopped laughing and smiling. The first picture is a great representation of how happy I was. The walk from the car to the concert was pretty lengthy but it wasn’t too bad because Jordan is a goofball man. She had me cracking up the whole way, which may or may not have been hard now that I think about it because if I love you, everything you say is gold to me. Regardless, the walk and line to the concert flew by and we were finally inside.
Cross Country Trip Tuesday July, 30 2019 Memories from Fort Jackson post 13 ——————————————————————————— If I had to narrow down to my top 3 proudest and empowering moments from basic, this day would be one of them. I remember standing back in the trees, ready to walk out to see our families after what felt like ages and I look at Jordan. We were both practically shaking from excitement. Blood, Sweat and Tears were shed to get to this moment. We had spent long, hot, humid, South Carolina hours outside preparing for just this ceremony alone and we were finally in the count down to see our families that were pilling up into the bleachers, completely oblivious to the fact we were hiding in the woods right in front of them. My heart was pounding and a million memories were going through my head. In all the port-a-potties you go into from the moment you get to basic, you’ll read tons of different messages. “Drill SGT __ is a __ “ or “Here I sit all broken hearted, came to Shi_ but only farted...” BUT besides those, people always wrote “40 days and a wake up”, “15 days and a wake up” or “2 days and a wake up”. The night before this ceremony, people were saying “just a wake up!” Then, on that morning, standing in the woods whispering, we were on a completely different count down. Not days and a wake up, not a wake up, but we were within minutes of seeing our families. We get a sign that it was finally time to walk out. I look at my best friend, grabbed her hand and gave her the BIGGEST smile then the music began to play and we marched out. We were Alpha company so we were the first to march out and first to be seen through the smoke. As soon as we walked out of the smoke, we heard a loud ROAR of cheering. My head was high, chin was up, perfectly in-line and in-step and I felt on top of the world...
Cross Country Trip Monday July 29, 2019 - Tuesday July 30, 2019 Cleveland, Oh Post 12 ——————————————————————————- Later that night and next morning, we had a huge debate. I was supposed to leave on Tuesday so I could go home, pack and leave for LA on Wednesday but Jordan asked me if I wanted to go to a Wiz Khalifa concert on Tuesday night. I was very conflicted because I love concerts but I didn’t even plan my trip across the country yet. Ahem, I had NOTHING planned. In 48 hours I was getting onto a flight and that’s as far as my plan had gone. Butttttt, if there’s a will there’s a way! I decided that if I could atleast make an outline of where I’d be each day, I would buy the concert ticket and stay in Cleveland for one more day. I woke up on Tuesday and spent around an hour making an outline of where I wanted to go, how long it would take me to get to each destination and what days we would be at each location. After I was done with that, I felt a HUGE relief. We bought our tickets and we had around 6 hours to get ready. We stayed with one of her girl friends and this friend happened to be one of the people who came down to watch Jordan graduate from basic... which means she had A BUNCH of pictures and videos that I didn’t even have. I was extremely happy because I had so much fun in basic and I had no pictures or videos no show for it. I have very clear, distinct memories and heartfelt letters that I will never get rid of but in addition to those, pictures mean the world to me. Some people may find it annoying that I take so many pictures of everything but I don’t care. Pictures are my way of remembering, reminiscing and reliving beautiful events that happen in my life. ——————————————————————————— In my next post I will share some of my basic training pictures and videos. ❤️ it will probably be tomorrow because I have to get ready for work so stay tuned😉
Cross Country Trip Monday July 29, 2019 Cleveland, Oh Post 11 ——————————————————————————— Later on that evening Jordan took me to her favorite taco place. She should be getting paid because she does so much advertising for this place, it’s ridiculous. She’s been telling me about these tacos since I met her. It’s been a long time coming but I’m glad I could finally try the famous Barrio Tacos. 🌮 I loved the vibe in there.
Cross Country Trip Monday July 29, 2019 Cleveland, Oh Post 11 ——————————————————————————— I woke up in the morning and drove to Cleveland. First, we got caught up talking because we haven’t seen each other or called in a while. I don’t know about anyone else but sometimes I get so busy that I don’t even have time to celebrate the good things that happen to me so I love to talk and reminisce the good times. I also love hearing my friend’s accomplishments. When they tell me what they’ve done, I am thee happiest, excited person. All my friends have their very own, personal cheerleader and fan.😂😂💕 Later on, I met a few of Jordan’s friends and we all went kayaking somewhere near downtown. That was a lot of fun because I was making Jordan do all the rowing. 😂😆 Thank ya baby @jordananne_
Cross Country Trip Sunday July 28, 2019 Gibsonburg, Oh Post 10 ——————————————————————————— After Nevaeh’s birthday party, I went home and started to pack, not for my trip across the country but for a trip to Cleveland. Earlier in the week when I was looking for a travel partner, I asked Jordan because I knew she was on leave in Ohio. She wasn’t able to go because her leave wasn’t long enough but she invited me to go to Cleveland to visit her. I told her I wasn’t sure if I was gonna be able to go but I would let her know. Very last minute, I called and we planned for me to drive out on Monday, chill for the day and I’d come home on Tuesday so I could pack and leave by the 31st. ——————————————————————————— Back story on me and Jordan: We met in August 2017 when we were leaving for the Army together from Cleveland MEPS. We were both on the same bus, same plane, and our flights got delayed together. We stayed in Philadelphia that night. I just met her that day and she slept in the same bed as me and wore my leggings. So I would say that’s where our friendship began. I had a bag full of random stuff and she convinced me throw most of it away because when we got to basic we were gonna get a “shark attack” and have to hold our bags over our heads. I listened... I threw away anything that was gonna be extra weight to hold over my head. Once we got to reception, we were bunk buddies and we were side by side for everything. We found out we were gonna be in the same company and we were so excited. Once we got to basic we ended up being in the same platoon and the rest is pretty much history. We’ve been close friends ever since. Now, we have a long distance friendship and we travel together. We never know when we will see each other again so we’re always sure to make a ton of picture is from our trip to South Padre Island, Texas. I will eventually post the pics from this trip. Maybe after I’m done with my Cross Country Trip story...
Cross Country Trip Sunday July 28, 2019 White Star Park Gibsonburg, Oh Post 9 ——————————————————————————— On Sunday my family celebrated my little sister Nevaeh’s birthday at the quarry. We cooked on the grill and hung out all day. I talked to my Aunt Bobbi and Uncle Bob about travel ideas since they have been out west on a motor cycle trip. They gave me a bunch of different ideas. I wasn’t super excited about the trip until this point. I was getting closer to leaving and talking about where I was going was hyping me up. ——————————————————————————— This is the only picture I have from Nev’s birthday. This is my Aunt Bobbi and my youngest Niece Natalie. I put another picture of her on here because she’s so cute and I’ve been itching to post it. ❤️❤️
Cross Country Trip Saturday July 27, 2019 Gibsonburg, Oh Post 8 ——————————————————————————- After Amelia and I were done with our date I spent the rest of my night with Kiki, Libby and a bunch of other people that I haven’t seen in a few years. I had a good night. ——————————————————————————— My story was on hold for a few days because I was busy but I’m back and better. Stay tuned... #travelblogger #storytime
Cross Country Trip Saturday July 27, 2019 Marblehead, Oh Post 7 ——————————————————————————— Before walking in, we got the light house history. They said a long time ago people would move from New York to Ohio so they would take a boat across Lake Erie. Some of the people would drink the dirty, infected lake water and the other passengers would throw them overboard because they didn’t want them to spread illness. It came back to bite them later on when bodies started washing up on the Marblehead shore. Anyways, I really loved the staircase.

Cross Country Trip Saturday July 27, 2019 Marblehead, Oh Post 5 ——————————————————————————— After we were done at the petting zoo, we drove to the Sandusky Bay but the water smelled terrible so I decided to just go to lighthouse instead. Once we arrived, we bought tickets to tour the inside of the lighthouse and we skipped rocks and made a mermaid until it was time for our tour.
